The Spanish private equity market continues to grow, following the record E2.35bn funds raised in 2000. The money now available should be enough to sustain increasing levels of investment throughout the next two years, according to this report by Professor Jose Marti of the University of Madrid.
Both domestic and foreign investors continue to show a high level of interest in Spain and large, pan-European funds that have been set up over the last few years are directing some of their funds to Spanish companies. 33.1 per cent of funds raised in 2000 came from other European countries and the US provided 14.7 per cent of the funds.
