 A series of successful political and economic reforms mean that Poland attracts more foreign direct investment than any other country in central and eastern Europe. Here are some of the highlights from last year, provided by PAIZ.
In recent years, Poland has become the leader among central and eastern European countries by volume of direct foreign investment inflow, says this report on direct foreign investments in Poland was prepared by the Research Department of PAIZ. Poland's political and economic transformation has been the key factor in stimulating direct investments. It has generated favourable legal, economic and infrastructure conditions for foreign investors.
In addition, Poland's OECD membership since 1996 ensured better quality procedures and regulations applied to foreign investors, allowing them equal treatment with their domestic counterparts. Poland's entry into NATO in 1999 was also an encouraging factor in that it ensured the country's geopolitical stability. Poland's imminent EU membership and the implementation of acquis communautaire will surely help to create an ever more attractive investment climate in Poland and boost the allocation of direct foreign investment funds to this country.
