The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) wants to turn Singapore into a centre for biomedical sciences, following in the footsteps of Japan and Korea. This article from Red Herring magazine looks at the possibilities for growth.
The Singapore government has recruited US educated scientists to set up VC firms. The governments portfolio is now worth three times what the government invested. This initiative acts a good example of governments turning to biotech for high risk–high return investment.
