According to José Martí of Web Capital Riesgo's latest report about private equity in Spain, total funds under management and investments decreased sharply in the first semester of 2002. The main figures are highlighted in the executive summary offered here. Interest in the Spanish private equity market has been increasing over the past couple of years, and several pan-European firms have opened offices or in some way increased their presence in Spain. But the new figures suggest that it may be some time before investment activity meets their expectations.
