Investment activity in venture capital remained steady in Brazil throughout 2001, according to Stratus. However, the outlook for 2002 is still uncertain with investment activity probably being influenced by an uncertain political situation and macro-economic developments. On the whole, 2001 saw most private equity funds concentrating on consolidating their previous investments rather than generating new ones. There was also a shift in terms of investment size, from larger to smaller deals.
