The global private equity market has experienced rumblings of optimism over the last few months. Not so in the recent Australian private equity confidence survey conducted by Deloitte & Touche. It concludes that an air of uncertainty has crept into the Australian and New Zealand private equity industry.
The cautious mood is exemplified by the fact that 23 per cent of respondents to the survey expect the overall economic climate to worsen over the next six months compared to only three per cent last quarter. However, some positives can be felt as 65 per cent believed that the financial performance of their investee companies would improve, compared to only 38 per cent in the UK.
