In common with the global trend, the Nordic M&A market has suffered a decline over the last twelve months. Only private equity provided a glimmer of light in the surrounding gloom – it saw a modest increase in the number of deals done, when compared with the previous year, according to Dealogic.
The small economies of Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway have experienced a drop in M&A activity of just over 14 per cent in the twelve months to August compared to the previous year. This, however, is a favourable statistic compared to the global decrease of 38 per cent. Particular sectors have also shown a degree of resilience, including telecommunications, utilities and the food and textile industry.
