The joy of SOX

15/01/2003Source: Latham & Watkins. Charles Nathan

The recent Sarbanes-Oxley Act will have a significant impact on the US mergers and acquisitions market, both positive and negative. Charles Nathan of Latham & Watkins discusses the impact that the reforms will have on private equity involvement in M&A and the future IPO outlook.

In the short term, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act will probably contribute to the ongoing malaise that is felt in the M&A marketplace. In the long run, it may be the catalyst for a reinvigoration. The author discusses four reforms that will determine the future levels of private equity involvement in M&A in the US.
