Private equity players in Australia and New Zealand are showing signs of optimism – a rare glimmer of hope in the current global environment. Deloitte & Touche's private equity confidence survey for Australia and New Zealand assesses the sentiment of venture capitalists for the immediate future of the industry.
Respondents to the survey predict attractive entry multiples, increased deal volumes and improving financial performances of their portfolio companies for the coming months. Some 86 per cent of these expect the economy to remain the same, with 14 per cent predicting a decline. None believe the economy will improve in this time. Nearly half the respondents expect the performance of their investee companies to improve, with ten per cent expecting a decline.
