The amount of venture capital invested in Canadian life sciences companies fell for the third consecutive year in 2002, according to a report by Macdonald & Associates. But the life science sector's share of venture capital investment as a whole increased marginally from 17 per cent in 2001 to 19 per cent last year. The report reveals that the Canadian life science sector has, in fact, fared better than its IT counterpart. It concludes that while the IT sector has a cold, the life science sector is merely suffering from the sniffles.
