The Danish Market for Venture Capital and Private Equity (2003)04/11/2003. Source: Danish Investment Fund.
The Danish market for venture capital has undergone tremendous change in the last five years. The number of investors has more than doubled, the population of venture-backed Danish firms has more than tripled and the volume of investments has more than quadrupled, according to this report by the Danish Investment Fund.
The development, says the report, has been fuelled by the IT boom in the late 1990s and also by the growth in the biotech industry. As a result, the market has been affected by the downturn of the last few years. On a more positive note, however, Denmark's private equity industry has undergone a structural maturing process.
