The IPO market had been shut for two years in Europe. Now that the markets have recovered, there are several companies starting to take their chance, particularly in the UK, says Ernst & Young. Across Europe, the recovery in the IPO market has been patchy, just as growth has been uneven. Reasonable economic conditions in Spain,
Ireland and the UK have not encouraged France, Germany and Italy to
espouse their reform agendas. The lack of growth in these major
economies was felt keenly in the IPO market.
“There has been a strong build-up of demand. I know of several
companies that have been waiting for sensible market conditions
for some time,” said David Wilkinson, IPO leader, Ernst & Young UK.
