A fresh look at the economy26/01/2005. Source: Goldman Sachs JBWere pty Ltd. Bernard Doyle
A guide from Goldman Sachs JBWere for GPs in New Zealand as to what is required to achieve consistently high growth, given how many of the country's market sectors will be impacted by the expansion of emerging economies such as China and India.
Among the opportunities, this presentation suggests that private equity investors should look for embedded protection such as outsourcing and branded consumer goods - and recommends that GPs be wary of investing in manufacturing processes that rely on a low labour cost and a low New Zealand dollar.
Some obvious winners in the new world will be portfolio companies operating in New Zealand's education and tourism markets.
