Economic performance and continued liberalisation is set to drive mergers and acquisitions growth in India, finds PricewaterhouseCoopers. The government of India has recently simplified foreign investment procedures by putting the following three categories under the automatic approval route whilst still retaining the existing sectoral FDI caps:
- Increase in foreign equity in a company;
- Conversion of preference shares into equity capital; and
- Conversion of foreign loans into equity
