In 2004 there was a sharp increase in the private equity capital raised in Australia. This reflected the strong returns generated by private equity firms and the consequent increases in institutional allocations to the sector. The year 2004 was a record year for private equity and venture capital investment in Australia. This report includes the amount of private equity invested by industry, the amount of private equity invested by stage and the number of companies invested in by stage. The report covers data up to 30 June 2004.
