Alternative asset manager GLG Partners has appointed Karim Abdel-Motaal and Bart Turtelboom as co-heads of the firm's Emerging Markets Fund, Emerging Currency and Fixed Income Fund and Emerging Equity Fund. They both join from Morgan Stanley, where they were global co-heads of emerging markets sales and trading.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Abdel-Motaal worked as a trader at Tudor Capital, where he specialised in emerging markets. Before that, he was at JPMorgan, where he was the global head of Emerging Local Markets Research for five years. He was also responsible for building JPMorgan's local currency research effort.
Turtelboom joined Morgan Stanley from Vega Asset Management, where he was an emerging markets portfolio manager. Prior to this, he was a director at Deutsche Bank in London. Before that, he worked as an economist with the International Monetary Fund in Washington.
Manny Roman, co-CEO, GLG, said, 'We are delighted that Karim and Bart are joining GLG. Their track record, industry presence and emerging markets knowledge will provide dedicated leadership to three of our emerging markets funds. We look forward to the significant contribution they will make to GLG's emerging markets franchise.'
