The telecoms sector faces many challenges if it is to prosper once again. Red Herring argues that current developments in the broadband sector, however encouraging may not be enough to revive things. Surveys conducted across the US have confirmed the fact that there is a need for broadband developments. Less than eight per cent of US households are equipped with broadband service and many applications are yet to be developed. However, whether such demand is enough to revive the sector is debatable.
