There has been a major shift in the way that computing occurs – moving away from the desktop and towards the ‘edge'- as more and more transactions are executed from cellular phones and wireless-enabled devices. Michael Fitzgerald from Red Herring asks what the investment opportunities are in this sector? Investors may be cautious about committing money to this sector, given the bad press that other software investments have attracted. However, as with other software applications before, namely e-mail, it is never obvious when they might take off.
