The global telecoms market will eventually stabilise but its future growth is currently hanging in the balance. Mark Mowrey of Red Herring discusses the so-called ‘telecoms winter' and notes that the industry lacks the service-driven demand that it requires to drive growth.
The telecoms market is in its eighth consecutive quarter of capital-spending decline and little public or private money has been earmarked for the development of new carrier infrastructure. Venture money continues to flow into the sector but could prove problematic as more companies chase fewer dollars.
