2004 was forecast to herald the revival of technology venture capital funding in the UK. But, when compared with the first quarter of 2003, the number of venture capital financings of over £1m in the technology sector, fell from 28 to 21, its lowest level since the fourth quarter of 1998, according to Cobalt Corporate Finance. Software applications was the most active sector of investment during the quarter with nine completed deals.
