Looking on a cumulative basis, Go4Venture's monthly VC Bulletin for August shows that the market has finally got ahead of 2004, by approximately 20 per cent. This contrasts with a virtual standstill in Q1 2005 compared to the same period the year before. For the first time since the inception of the Headline Transaction Index, activity in August is substantial enough to be worth reporting. Until now, we had simply ignored August in the compilation of our charts due to the very low levels of deal turnover.
Some of the highlights of the August 2005 edition of Go4Venture's Monthly VC Bulletin include:
- Unusually high levels of holiday period activity sustained by appetite for larger, more complex deals.
- 4 deals above our usual €7.5m threshold
- First month the Index has ever recorded three deals over €20m
