Service providers seeking to extend their metro networks are looking to carrier ethernet over copper. In this Israel Venture Capital Journal article, Yossi Saad, VP strategic marketing and product management at Actelis Networks, describes the latest developments in the delivery of carrier Ethernet services. As the need for broadband services grows, service providers are looking for ways to expand the footprint of their metro ethernet networks to more customers in their service areas.
Business customers are requiring high-speed connectivity to support next-generation applications, including Internet access, VPN extensions of their enterprise LANs, video conferencing, IPTV, VoIP and other innovative services. These applications are best served with ethernet as the network interface providing transparency, resiliency and quality of service for data, voice and video applications over a converged network connection.
