In their quarterly review of M&A Activity, Lyndhurst Partners noted that sustained momentum related to M&A, strong upward movement in stock market indices, mixed performance by publicly-traded IT service-focused organisations and encouraging statistics related to hiring and spending in the IT sector characterised the market for IT Professional Service Organisations during January 2008.
Lyndhurst Partners identified a total of 78 ITPSO transactions in the fourth quarter of 2007. This total represents a decrease of 3.7% from the prior quarter (81), and a decrease of 21.2% in comparison to the same quarter a year ago (99). For the year, total transaction volume increased 0.9% over 2006 (330 versus 327 transactions).
