PER is working with the recently formed European private equity arm of a US hedge fund based in London. The team currently comprises one Principal, and as a consequence the fund is looking to hire an Associate to support the Principal in all investment activity, and indeed to further the fund’s activities across Europe. The private equity team focuses on buyout and growth investments across Europe with a target enterprise value of €50-400m, with the aim to make majority investments in primarily private businesses, but occasionally also listed companies. The Associate will be sourcing and executing transactions from the start, and will have the opportunity to work both closely with the Principal and independently on their own transactions. The beginnings at least of an established network within one or more of the major European countries would thus be an essential requirement of this position. This is a great chance to help build the fund’s brand in Europe and lead transactions right form the very start.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Good academic background from a leading institution
- Strong M&A or leveraged finance transaction experience from a leading investment bank, or from within private equity
- Generalist sector experience is preferable, as the fund invests across all sectors
- Very strong financial modelling skills are essential
- The ability to build and develop a network across various markets in Europe and the confidence to source transactions for the fund
- A second European language, as well as fluent English, is required.
