Transparency in the global private equity industry continues to be a burning issue for limited partners and performance statistics remain open to interpretation. Ray Maxwell of Invesco Asset Management discusses the problems inherent in investing in funds and outlines his requirements for the future.
Institutional investors in private equity funds want a greater degree of honesty from their GPs. They would also like a clearer statement of valuation practice, consistent treatment of valuation amongst investors and reports that are timely and informative. They would also like to see a more standardised legal structure.
