Management buy-out activity is on the increase in Australia but the long-term outcome of many of these transactions remains to be seen. Andrew Harris of executive search firm Egon Zehnder International asks Andrew Rothery of GS Private Equity what makes for a successful MBO.
Rothery highlights the importance of an accurate evaluation of the management team in determining the success of an MBO. He also identifies the failure to identify future exit opportunities adequately as a key reason for an MBO to fail.
