The European private equity industry is well positioned for an increase in activity in 2004. The merger and acquisition market is improving, there are a number of initial public offerings in the pipeline and the forecast is for increased information technology spending, according to Keith Arundale of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Arundale also believes that portfolio rationalisation and write-offs are now largely complete and that despite the so-called 'wall of money', there is only in the region of one and half years supply of capital currently available in Europe.
