As returns for equities and bonds look like taking a downturn, investing in alternative assets has become a far more attractive proposition. This second Global Investment Review from Watson Wyatt highlights areas in which notable change has occurred.
The review includes features on the growing global acceptance of defined contribution pension provision, the recent attraction towards hedge funds and a report on how European pension funds are set to shrink their domestic allocation in favour of European assets. Indeed, figures suggest that the allocation in euro-denominated equities is set to rise from one-fifth of total assets to one-third.
