M&A Review for Central & Eastern Europe09/04/2003. Source: Dealogic.
In stark contrast to almost all other markets, M&A activity in Central and Eastern Europe for the twelve-month period to February 2003 showed a healthy increase. Dealogic provides a detailed analysis of the M&A market in the region during this period.
The volume of M&A activity in the region reached 1,705 transactions valued at $34.2bn, a 12.3 per cent increase in volume and a 31.8 per cent increase in value on the previous year. This compares favourably with global activity, which registered a decline of 18.2 per cent in value and 10.9 per cent in volume over the same period. Europe as a whole was able to manage a small increase of one per cent in value in the year to the end of February 2003.
