Mergers and acquisitions activity in Asia (excluding Japan and China) has declined in the 12-month period to the end of September 2003 compared to the previous year. Dealogic provides a detailed analysis of the M&A market in the region during this period.
The volume of M&A activity in the region dropped to 1,822 deals at a value of $80.8bn, compared to 1,998 deals worth a total of $103.1bn for the previous 12 months. This represents a drop of 21.6 per cent and 8.8 per cent respectively. India and the sub-continent appears to have been particularly affected as it experienced a 60 per cent drop.
