The number of small business start-ups in the UK has continued to rise in the second quarter of 2003 while the number of closures has fallen marginally, according to the latest small business survey carried out by Barclays Bank.
The survey attributes this increase in start-up activity to growing confidence in the UK business climate. The sectors that experienced the strongest start-up activity were construction, property and finance, leisure, government and community, and industry.
