At least $57bn of private equity and venture capital was invested globally in the first half of 2003 and at least $24bn of funds were raised in the same period, according to the Global Private equity 2003 survey produced by 3i and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
A total of $41.5bn of private equity was invested in the US in the first six months of last year, while $26bn was invested in Western Europe. An additional $6.6bn was invested in the Asia-Pacific region.
