Positive sentiment about Australia's economic climate and a number of recent successful private equity exits should lay solid foundations for more private equity transactions in the region over the next six months, according to the latest Deloitte Private Equity Confidence Survey. Despite the expectation of increasing entry multiples, private equity players are confident that there will be an increase in deal activity. This level of confidence conflicts with some of the recent views expressed by investment bankers who believe that private equity firms will struggle to find investment opportunities in light of the higher prices and competition from trade buyers and the IPO market.
