Schroder Ventures US appoints Comcast chairman to advisory board

Venture firm Schroder Ventures US has announced the appointment of C Michael Armstrong as a member of its advisory board. Armstrong is chairman of Comcast Corporation and former chairman and CEO of Hughes and the AT&T Corporation.

‘The unique characteristics of the communications industry yield significant opportunities for knowledgeable, disciplined investors,' Armstrong said. ‘By focusing on the services side of the media, technology and communications industries in the middle market, Schroder Ventures has gained a substantive understanding of this sector and is well positioned to identify those opportunities with high growth potential.'

Schroder Ventures recently appointed former vice chairman and COO of CNN Steven W Korn to its advisory board, which also includes Alain Levy, CEO of EMI Music and Eugene F Murphy, former vice chairman of GE.

Schroder Ventures US is currently investing a $270m fund and focuses on middle-market opportunities in the media, business services, communications and technology services sectors.
