 Quaker BioVentures, the US life sciences venture specialist, has reportedly held a first close on its debut fund of $180m, more than half way towards its target of $300m.
The fund will focus on biopharmaceuticals as well as on platform companies, medical devices, and healthcare services.
The life sciences sector remains among the most robust in a brutally hostile venture capital fundraising environments. Although life sciences investment activity has slowed over the past 18 months, it has increased its share of total venture investment.
