German private equity firm Deutsche Beteiligungs has joined forces with US private equity firm Harvest Partners to back the management buy-out of Casco Impregnated Papers from Akzo Nobel in a transaction worth E114m.
Casco ‘impregnates' decorative paper and foils used in the production of furniture and flooring. The company operates in 45 countries and generated sales of E265m in 2002.
Deutsche Beteiligungs used its co-investment fund DBAG Fund IV, to make the investment. Casco's management is also taking part in the transaction.
‘Casco ideally meets the standards of our investment policy,' said Reinhard Loffler, member of the board of management at Deutsche Beteiligungs. ‘Casco is well poised in the market, and it is profitable. We plan to achieve further rises in sales and earnings through entries into new markets and products.'
