Standard Life Investments is continuing its expansion into the US private equity market with the recruitment of John Guinee as investment director for North America. Guinee will be responsible for building a $200m portfolio of US private equity interests.
Guinee joins Standard Life from State Street, where he served as Vice President for business development and strategy. He helped structure more than a dozen deals totalling in excess of $300m while at the firm.
Guinee previously operated within the mergers and acquisitions team at Alpha Technologies Group and was portfolio manager for GE Capital.
‘John's detailed knowledge of North America will make him a valuable addition to the private equity team,' said Jonny Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer at Standard Life Investments (Private Equity).
‘With over E2bn of assets under management Standard Life Investments is a leading investor in private equity funds and co-investments in Europe,' Maxwell continued. ‘We are confident that we can replicate this success within the North American market.'
