UK-based Barclays Private Equity has completed its third deal within a week with its investment in SP Metal, a French plastic packaging manufacturer.
The UK mid-market buy-out house has bought a 25 per cent to 30 per cent equity stake in the household plastic goods manufacturer. The stake will be used as a cash injection to build the business organically and to make bolt on acquisitions.
The existing management has retained the remainder of the company and did not wish the price of the deal to be disclosed, according the Financial News.
Barclays Private Equity Paris also joined forces with ABN Amro Capital to table a bid for Pinault Bois Matériaux, a French building materials supplier at the end of last week.
Barclays Private Equity has been equally busy in other areas of the European market. The firm has acquired a majority stake in the healthcare business of Royal & SunAlliance, the UK insurer, and has purchased a minority stake in Italian food distribution company, Marr.
