UK-based Duke Street Capital is to increase its commitment to the French private equity market with the opening of a Paris office. Frederic Chauffier will head the new team.
Chauffier joined Duke Street in 1998 from SPEF, the private equity arm of Banc Populaires. The Paris team will also include Boris Zaitra, James Weir, Samantha da Soller and Beatrice Vivier.
Zaitre joined Duke Street in 1999 from JP Morgan where he worked in the mergers and acquisitions department in London and Paris. Weir moved in 1990 from Hambros Advanced Technology Trust where he was director.
Da Soller joined the firm in 2001 from Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette and Vivier came on board earlier this year as an investment manager having previously worked for BC Partners in Paris.
‘France has always been an important market for Duke Street Capital and going forward, we believe it will provide an increasingly significant source of quality mid-market deals,' Chauffier commented.
Duke Street's French operations will centre on growth businesses with enterprise values of between E30m and E300m. The team will focus on investments in consumer products, speciality chemicals, healthcare and media sectors.
