Boston-based venture capital firm, Arcadia Partners, has appointed Jane Swift, former acting governor of the state of Massachusetts, as a special general partner. Arcadia focuses exclusively on the for-profit education and training industry.
‘Governor Swift, with her outstanding commitment to education, experience working with educators and her success in improving Massachusetts public schools, is a tremendous addition to our team,' Liam Donahue, a senior partner at Arcadia, told Associated Press Newswires.
Arcadia was founded in 1998 by Donahue, Andrew Hallowell and Michael Margolis. The firm currently has $50m under management and has completed over 18 investments in educational companies at all stages of development.
Other firms to have made investments in the US education sector recently include Quad Ventures, William Blair Capital Partners, ClearLight Partners, Wellspring Capital Management, Thayer Capital Partners, Huron Capital Partners, Cadigan Investment Partners and Gryphon Partners.
