US Bessemer Venture appoints operating partner

California-based venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners has appointed Devish Garg as an operating partner to assist with the roll out of the firm's semiconductor sector focus.

Garg joins Bessemer from Broadcom's security business unit where he was general manager. He previously served in sales management at electronic design automation company Synopsys as well as working at LSI Logic and National Semiconductor.

‘We're very pleased that Devish has joined our West Coast team,' said general partner Rob Chandra. ‘His deep operating knowledge and broad range of experience will benefit both our current and our future portfolio companies.'

Bessemer is one of the longest standing venture capital firms in the US. Founded by the Phipps family, the firm has more than $1bn under management and focuses on early-stage opportunities in communications, e-commerce and optics.

‘I am impressed with the firm's ability to find great entrepreneurs with interesting ideas, and build valuable companies,' said Garg. ‘Many of their portfolio companies remind me of Broadcom in its early years. I am excited to be a part of that value-creation effort now.'
