UK firm Dunedin backs £37m buy-out of Caledonian Building Systems

Caledonian designs, manufactures and constructs modular buildings. It started life in 1997 making buildings for the custodial sector but has since moved into defence, hotel, education and healthcare facilities.

Duncan Macrae of Dunedin commented on the deal: ‘Caledonian represents the sort of company that Dunedin is keen to invest in. It has a unique market position, strong management team and considerable potential for growth.'

UK mid-market activity has been reasonably slow so far this year but participants expect a gradual pick-up in activity, according to a recent report by AltAssets Research. Understanding the UK Mid-market found a positive net balance of 25 per cent of firms expecting investment activity to increase over the next two years after a prolonged period of subdued investment.
