 US private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) is in advanced talks to acquire US utility company UniSource Energy for around $850m. The transaction will also include the assumption of $2bn in debt.
KKR will be joined in the deal by the private equity arms of JP Morgan Chase and Wachovia Corporation, according to the Wall Street Journal.
KKR has recently completed a transaction to acquire German DaimlerChysler’s MTU aero engine business for $1.7bn. The firm is also close to sealing a deal to buy US drugstore chain Eckerd for up to $5bn in conjunction with European firm CVC.
