 UK-based private equity firm TDR Capital, which acquired Pizza Express last year, is considering an offer for a second restaurant chain, ASK Central.
If TDR goes ahead with its planned offer, the firm will have to trump an existing offer made by rival restaurant chain City Centre Restaurants. The existing offer values ASK at £168m, according to a report by Reuters.
In May 2003, TDR lodged a successful £277m bid for Pizza Express in conjunction with South African private equity firm Capricorn Ventures International. The firm is currently raising its debut mid-market buy-out fund targeting E500m and backed by a E160m cornerstone investment from Tudor Investment Corporation.
