Vestar Capital Partners, the former management buy-out arm of Credit Suisse First Boston, has acquired a 65 per cent stake in French funeral services company Pompes Funebres Generales from US undertaker Service Corporation International. The transaction values the firm at around E300m.
‘This industry is very attractive to financial buyers because it is stable, with top line sales growth of three to five per cent that tracks population growth and inflation,’ Robert Rosner of Vestar Capital Partners Europe told the Financial Times.
The deal completes Service Corporation International’s retreat from its European operations. The company recently sold UK Dignity Caring Funeral Services to HSBC.
