Apax Partners appoints Carol Olson as venture partner in the US

Apax Partners has appointed Carol Olson as venture partner to expand the firm's US healthcare investment team. Olson will be responsible for developing and implementing healthcare divestiture strategies and for identifying investment opportunities.

Olson joins the firm from Aviron where she served as chief commercial officer and was responsible for catalysing the company's strategic transition from a science-based organisation to a commercial business.

'Carol brings an ideal combination of in-house operational and commercial experience that will complement our particular strengths in completing strategic divestitures,' said Dr. Lori Rafield, partner, who heads Apax's US healthcare investment team. 'Because of her deep operational experience, Carol can quickly and easily recognise the divestiture's needs and how to either maximise or bring in what is needed to leverage the existing assets. She will greatly enhance our ability to realise the value of our investments more quickly and efficiently.'
