Industri Kapital has appointed a new director to its Swedish team. Samir Kamal will join the firm in August and will be responsible for sourcing and managing new investments in the Swedish market.
Kamal joins the firm from Carnegie where he was responsible for business origination and project management in the investment banking division. He previously worked for Enskilda Securities.
Industri Kapital currently manages more than E3.5bn. Since 1989, the firm has acquired 47 European companies. Its current portfolio is made up of 25 companies with a total turnover exceeding E10bn.
The firm has been trying to raise a new fund since the start of 2002. The initial target was E2.5bn but has subsequently been revised down, along with a series of other changes to some of the terms and conditions. The running total, however, is still understood to be less than E1bn.
