 US-based Atlas Venture, a venture capital firm focussed on communications, information technology and life sciences companies, has appointed Fred Destin as principal. He will be based in the firm's London office and will be primarily responsible for IT and software investments.
Destin joins the firm from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein's OM Technology Investments group, where he focussed on infrastructure software. He has also served as venture manager at Speed Ventures, a seed-stage technology investment firm, as well as executive director at Goldman Sachs' London office.
Atlas Venture was founded in 1980 and currently manages $2.1bn. The firm has offices in Boston, Munich, Paris and London. Portfolio companies include Starbak Communications, PicoChip and Hyperwave Information Management.
