US Draper Fisher Jurvetson plans move into former Soviet Union

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityUS early-stage technology venture capital firm, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, is exploring the possibility of setting up a fund to invest in Russian companies and US companies leveraging Russian research and development. The fund would also invest in the other former Soviet republics.

The fund, tentatively called DFJ Nexus fund I, would invest primarily in computationally intensive software and nanotechnology, according to a report by VentureWire.

Draper Fisher Jurvetson would be working with the International Finance Corporation, the private equity arm of the World Bank. The initiative would be lead by Alistair Stobie, a former managing partner at Moscow-based Mint Capital.
