 UK private equity firm Terra Firma has acquired the UK landfill assets of waste management firm Shanks Group. The transaction has been valued at £228m.
Terra Firma already owns waste assets through portfolio company, Waste Recycling Group, which it acquired for £315m in June last year.
'We are delighted to have the opportunity to expand our presence in the sector,' said Guy Hands, founder of Terra Firma. 'The combination of Shank's UK landfills with Waste Recycling Group will bring added operational and strategic focus to the business.'
